Dams, windmills, pipelines, and power lines are critical components of many nations’ infrastructure. Dams produce electricity and store water to meet a range of industrial, commercial, municipal, agricultural, and recreational needs. Pipelines and power lines move fuel, water, and electricity to the places where they are most needed.
In spite of the importance of these critical components of national infrastructure, their siting and operations are often controversial and subject to diverse assessments and conflcits over benefits and impacts.
