Earl Backman currently holds the position of National Sales Director for Active Education, a learning content company based in Golden. From 1971-1997, Earl served in a variety of academic and administrative positions at the University of North Carolina and Northern Arizona University. His experience includes developing and directing the University Ombudsman Office at NAU from 1993-1997. Earl is a trained mediator, and serves as a consultant to both institutions of higher education, as well as corporations on management, personnel, and strategic issues. In addition to serving on the CDR Board, Earl also chairs the Ben Brown International Study Award Committee at the University of Colorado and is active in Pardes Levavot, a Jewish Renewal Congregation in Boulder. He is married to Linda Backman, Ed.D. (Licensed Psychologist), and has two married children, Joel Backman (San Francisco) and Toni Palmer, Ph.D. (Denver).
