COLLABORATIVE DECISION-MAKING PROCEDURES
AND DESIGNING DISPUTE RESOLUTION SYSTEMS.

Services

Collaborative Decision-Making Procedures and Dispute Resolution Systems are ongoing and institutionalized in initiatives to cooperatively address important issues and resolve conflicts. Collaborative procedures and resolution systems involve the development and implementation of fair and predictable problem solving procedures and steps, and utilization of effective third party intermediaries.

Collaborative Decision-Making Initiatives engage multiple stakeholders in cooperative deliberations to address issues and solve problems. Issues addressed may be internal to organizations or in the public arena. Procedures often improve the relationships of involved parties, encourage quality input, and aid in the construction of mutually acceptable agreements. Organizational leaders use collaborative decision-making to build consensus and gain strong support for proposed solutions to organization-wide, inter-organizational or public problems.BACK TO TOP

Dispute Resolution Systems provide institutionalized structures and procedures to help people resolve a wide range of recurring conflicts either within an organization or in the public arena. Dispute resolution systems can help resolve personnel, inter-departmental, and inter-organizational disputes. Resolution systems generally have both preventative and conflict resolution components. Typical prevention efforts include improved communications systems, enhanced conflict management skills, and early intervention processes that help prevent the escalation of disputes.

Dispute resolution systems also include voluntary and third party decision- making procedures to resolve conflicts when they do arise. Examples of procedures that promote voluntary agreements and changed relationships include coaching, facilitation, and mediation. Third party decision-making procedures such as peer review panels, fact-finding and arbitration provide decisions when conflicting parties are unable to achieve voluntary settlements.

CDR's professional staff provide assistance to organizations to design, develop and implement successful collaborative initiatives, or more effective dispute resolution.
